Temple hike on 12.07.2014

The Gilboa Friendship and Partnership Association drew a positive conclusion from its hike to the Gilboa Temple in Kronberg Forest. On Saturday, 12.07.2014, the association had invited around 30 interested people to join them at the Bürgelstollen in perfect hiking weather. The Chairman of the Friendship and Partnership Association, District Administrator Ulrich Krebs, welcomed the guests and then, under the guidance of the Second Chairman, former District Council Chairman Manfred Gönsch, they set off through the forest towards the Gilboa Temple. After a short walk along the scenic, natural, historical and archaeological route, the group arrived at the Hünerberg, where the Gilboa Temple has commemorated the partnership between the Hochtaunus district and the Israeli district of Gilboa since 2010. While Gregor Maier, head of the culture department of the Hochtaunus district, explained the history of the Hünerberg to the hiking group, the participants were able to enjoy some refreshments and the magnificent view over Kronberg and the Main plain. A snack with Israeli specialties was prepared at the foot of the Hünerberg, where the hikers were able to fortify themselves for the return journey in a relaxed atmosphere. „I am very pleased that, in addition to the members of the association, other interested citizens also took part in the hike and used this opportunity to find out more about our partnership with Gilboa and the work of our association. We want to continue to actively promote the important issue of German-Israeli friendship in the Hochtaunus district,“ said District Administrator Ulrich Krebs, expressing his satisfaction with the hike.
